At the tactical level, the job of logistics leaders is to train every
day and develop junior leaders in a way that prepares their units to be
called upon at any time to deploy in defense of the nation. Logistics
leaders should work to keep their units as ready as possible through
realistic training. That's the most important aspect of the tactical
leader's job.

Are we ready for the unseen fight?
An enemy soldier stood by his truck, communicating with his higher
headquarters via radio. He was about to receive some critical
information that would allow him to maneuver the members of his group
against U.S.-friendly forces, but something unexpected happened.
Suddenly, there was nothing but garbled sounds and static coming through his receiver. He had lost his ability to communicate with other members of his unit, let alone his headquarters -- a severe handicap in battle.

Camp Arifjan Soldiers learn more than fighting in combatives
The Soldiers are exhausted before they ever get on the mat.
Master Sgt. Raymond Alston, the U.S. Army Central combatives instructor, chides them on, talking to the students from the pushup position.
"You're still here?" Alston says.
All but two Soldiers have already dropped out of the formation and jog laps around the interior walls of the gym. It's 8 a.m. Monday, June 27, at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, where the temperatures are already climbing to more than 120 degrees outside and bleeding into the workout area.

Army researchers testing Zika vaccine
Doctors at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research who have
developed a Zika vaccine that they've successfully tested on mice are
now testing it on monkeys and hope to begin testing on humans later this
year.
Their study, published June 28, in the journal Nature, demonstrated how mice developed immunity to the Zika virus after injection with a purified inactivated virus vaccine, called ZPIV.

Independence Day celebrates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776
Independence Day celebrates the adoption of the Declaration of
Independence on July 4, 1776, by the Continental Congress declaring the
thirteen American colonies to be independent from the British Empire.
The first national celebration was held on July 4, 1777 at Bristol,
Rhode Island. Subsequently, in 1870, Congress declared Independence Day
as a national holiday and in 1938 made it a paid federal holiday.
