Not all Army operations take place on land. Sometimes, repair,
construction and patrolling take place beneath the surface. An Engineer
Diver in the Army performs such tasks as reconnaissance, demolition, and

307th Engineer Battalion commemorates Waal River crossing
FORT BRAGG, N.C. (Oct. 26, 2015) -- The fall morning is cold in the
dense foliage deep in the back woods here, Oct. 21. Beams of yellow

Military life encourages families to support one another
A soldier's daily life is not that different from the life you lead now. Let's get through the basics. A soldier's
daily life is not that different from the life you lead now. You'll
still eat the food you normally eat. You'll sleep in a regular bed.
You'll shop, worship, maintain and live your daily life pretty much as
you do now. There are vets to take care of your pets, chapels and
religious buildings, grocery stores, dry cleaners, etc. You name it and
it probably exists on or near your Post, no matter where you are. Sure,
the names of places have changed, but the game really hasn't. In
fact, there are a number of things that might actually be better.

Unmanned aircraft: New kid on block flexing muscle
"It's a tactical capability working at a strategic distance."
That's what Army Col. Courtney Cote told a gaggle of mostly aviation and aerospace media Tuesday at the Association of the U.S. Army Annual Meeting and Exposition. He was talking about unmanned aerial systems -- the new player on the battlefield that, Cote asserts, is here to stay.
Assigned as the program manager for all Army unmanned aircraft, the colonel exudes an enthusiasm for the capability's potential, and a realist's view of the questions and challenges that must be addressed.
The bottom line is "the Army's interest in increasing our lethality," Cote said, but he acknowledges that the real bottom line -- the defense budget -- will drive the train.
But when asked by a reporter for his view of the future, including his "wish list," he did not hesitate.

USA sets record while winning gold in formation skydiving
Team USA parachutists set a world record as they beat out China to take
the gold in women's formation skydiving, Oct. 7, during the Military
World Games here.
Four female members of the U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team performed 35 formations in 35 seconds during their last jump at the Conseil International du Sport Militaire, or CISM World Games.
Two of the formations didn't actually count due to judges ruling that contact wasn't stationary in one case and separation was incomplete in the other. No matter, 33 formations were enough to set the world record, according to the team's captain, Sgt. 1st Class Angela Nichols.

The announcement was made at the 2015 Best Warrior Competition Awards Ceremony at the annual meeting of the Association of the United States Army, Oct. 12, in Washington, D.C.
"It's a great day to be a Soldier," said Sgt. Maj. of the Army Daniel A. Dailey. "Thank God we have Soldiers like the ones that are going to be recognized here today."
Dailey said he was referring to all 24 NCOs and Soldiers from 13 commands across the Army, who started competing a week ago at Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia, for the titles of best NCO and best Soldier.
During the event, the Soldiers were always being watched and graded and the competition was stiff, Dailey said. Their final event was participation in the Army Ten-Miler, Aug. 11, at the Pentagon. On average, the Soldiers ran about a 6:30 mile run, said Dailey, who joined them on the race.
